Student Summit

      The first time I heard about the flatclassroom project, to be frank i thought it was a waste of time and i had little interest in it but as time went i began to understand the essence of the program. My project for the program is Globalization and Outsourcing. I have got to understand that globalization is basically the reduction in trade barriers among countries which has enhanced trade and led to the expansion of a countless number of businesses.
      The concept of outsourcing corresponds to a lot of issues but it mainly refers to employing labor oversees. Outsourcing of work has made businesses more productive and efficient in the sense that more businesses are maximizing profits and cutting down the cost.
       Even though Globalization and Outsourcing is good to the economy and the individual, it has it's disadvantages. The has been increasing percentages of unemployment lately due to globalization and outsourcing because businesses are employing cheap labor in other countries, leaving skilled labor in their resident countries unemployed.
       The flatclassroom project has taught me how to effectively collaborate with people from different countries and i am happy to be in this class.

KEYNOTE

1. Keynote is called big little classroom because even though there are physical classrooms involved, the main classroom is virtual when students from all around the world can interact on a single platform.
2. The students at Hawkesdale use elluminate which is a web conferencing program. Students at Hawkesdale use it to connect with students in other countries. They also use skype to have video chats.
3. The teacher makes connection with other teachers from all around the world to help share ideas among her students and those of the other teachers. She made arrangements for her students to partake in Flatclassroomproject trips which helped them to make a lot of connections.
4. I agree with Anne because just as the saying goes,"two heads are better than one", so is the collaboration of students from different backgrounds better than that of a single class.
5. Making real time collaboration makes the class less boring and help students to understand the topic at hand better.

THE WORLD IS FLAT

               The world is flat is an interesting book which creates awareness of how "flat" the world has become. It reveal the many different ways in which individuals can interact with each other no matter where they are in the world. In initial stages of the emergence of computers, they were only accesible to the government of countries. As time went on, companies had an upper hand in the use of computers and today, it is pretty much easy for any one to harness the benefits of a computer.
              PCs allow individuals to to offer their unique ideas in digital form. "The world is flat" does not literally mean the world it flat. It is a platform that enables users not only to download but also to upload their content on the internet. It has transformed communication from a vertical form to a horizontal form. The iron rule of business, according to the world is flat means whatever can be done will be done and the only question is whether it will be done by you or to you. It basically means there is no limit to your capabilities. With computers, one way or another there is a way to express your idea which will benefit millions of people just as people like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates have done.
              I have a feeling that the Flat Classroom project is going to broaden my scope of thinking. It will allow me to develop good and creative thinking skills. The Flat Classroom project is a very important international platform which will allow all member to appreciate the ideas of one another and in so doing learn new things and improve upon their own ideas. Who knows? we might get the new Bill Gates from the Flat Classroom project.

SUPERMAN ACTUALLY EXISTS.

Dwight Howard defys nature as he performs "the superman". Better dunks have been done but this dunk has to be appreciated because it is simply amazing.

OneNote

       OneNote is a microsoft designed software which allows users to take notes. It is basically a notebook, just digital. It has so many features which enables users to take notes about anything at all. OneNote allows users to divide their page into any desired number of sectors which can further be sub-divided into specifics.
      OneNote has so many cool features like screenshot, which allows users to capture images on the computer screen and add it to their notes. It also has the draw tool which enables users to illustrate their notes by drawing lines and shapes. Another unique feature of OneNote is attach file. This feature allows users to upload files directly from a drive onto their notes. It makes it easy and convinient to transfer files.
       Even though OneNote, in one way or another functions like some microsoft softwares like word, it is different in so many ways. OneNote has an auto save feature which does not require users to save their stuff after posting, it automatically saves it. There are so many different features OneNote has which other word processing softwares do not.
        OneNote helps students to easily copy their notes and to have it saved in a safe location. It also allows students to easily transfer notes to friends without necessarily contaction them physically. Business professionals are another category of people who need OneNote in their day to day administration because it helps to save important information and record daily business transactions.

http://www.youtube.com/  - YouTube is a website where people can upload videos for free. The fascinating thing about it is that it a very affordable way to advertise anything at all. Business men can send their companies from local to international, musical artists can launch their careers with it, YouTube is a portal of so many opportunites and in my opinion, it is the best website in the world.


http://www.utorrent.com/ - Utorrent is all about sharing  stuff. I love it because I can easily send stuff to my friends by just uploading it on the site after which i will be given a link. To access that stuff you can just click on the link and the information will be available for download. It helps to minimize cost and save time.




http://www.yellowpages.com/ - Yellow pages is a site where you can find information pertaining a company, group or an individual. It is one of the easiest ways of finding someone and I think it is so cool. You can find anyone or anything throught jellow pages.

MY FIRST TIME

        Hello. I am Kojo Badu the only exhange student from Africa, currently a senior at valley. Basketball and music are my favourite hobbies but I recently found out that I'm fantastic at fishing. I find brown to be the best colour in the world and I hate chemistry. I'm taking the Digital Communication Tools at valley because I love gadgets and technology because even though the world is humongous, they make it easily accessible.
      
        Digital Communication Tools or Digi Tools enables students to be acqainted with the latest is the world of technology. Even though I know a lot about gadgets and programs, Digi Tools has helped me learn to use programs like tagxedo and even blogger. I think Digi Tools is a really cool subject. What do you think about it?
